Santee Cooper: Tis the Season for the Tinsel Trot
Monday, October 26th, 2020
Although it may be difficult to believe, the holiday season is quickly approaching. Start the season off with some family-friendly fun at the 8th annual Tinsel Trot. It’s your sneak peek of the beautiful lighting displays that line the Celebrate The Season Holiday Lights Driving Tour at Santee Cooper headquarters and Old Santee Canal Park.
This year, Old Santee Canal Park is expanding the event to three days from Friday, Nov. 20, through Sunday Nov. 22, to accommodate for social distancing. Participants must register for the two-mile fun run to secure a spot and receive a t-shirt showing their support. Registration information is available at CelebrateTheSeason.org or visit RaceRoster.com and search for Tinsel Trot. Each night will be limited to 500 participants, so register early. Tickets for the Tinsel Trot are $11.25, which includes an online processing fee, and Celebrate The Season Holiday Lights Driving Tour tickets can be purchased at the same time.
The course will be available from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m., and runners and walkers can show up anytime during those hours of operation. Costumes are encouraged to help get you in the holiday spirit.
The Tinsel Trot is the beginning of the 10th annual Celebrate The Season holiday festival, which is hosted and organized by Santee Cooper. Since 2011, Celebrate The Season, which features Berkeley Electric Cooperative as presenting sponsor, has donated more than $956,000 to local charities. Join the fun, enjoy a festive run and help us reach the $1 million mark this year.
