S.C. Department of Commerce: American Pride in Manufacturing
Tuesday, July 7th, 2020
As we embark on the Fourth of July weekend, many of us reminisce on poolside celebrations with family and friends or being oceanside at one of South Carolina's many picturesque beaches. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has made group gatherings more challenging, there are still opportunities to express our patriotism while ensuring we keep ourselves and our communities safe.
South Carolinians are known for being a prideful bunch. We take pride in our country; and, from an economic development perspective, we certainly take pride in the role we play in advancing our economy. In recent years, the Palmetto State has been a key player in the United States' manufacturing renaissance, helping to advance the all-important "Made in the USA" label.
More than an annual occurrence, this holiday is a reminder of the heroes who have fought and continue to fight for our independence. It's because of their sacrifices that we have the opportunity to live, work and play freely. So, in making plans to celebrate our nation's birth, let's recognize this privilege and be diligent in protecting ourselves, our neighbors and our co-workers to help flatten the curve and prevent new cases of COVID-19.
By continuing to make top-quality products within our borders, not only will we be helping bring prosperity and recognition to South Carolina, we'll also be helping drive the country's economy forward - something we can all take pride in.
