Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that the South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force and the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association have partnered in the fight against human trafficking in our state. Together, they will focus on training members of the hospitality industry, ensuring businesses have safe response protocols, and continuing to bring awareness about the crime.
The South Carolina Office of the Attorney General leads the State Task Force that utilizes a multi-sector and regional approach to bringing awareness of human trafficking while preventing and prosecuting cases. The Task Force is comprised of local, state, and federal law enforcement, state agencies, non-profit organizations, professional associations, and others committed to the anti-human trafficking movement.
The South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (SCRLA) represents over 2,200 member restaurant and lodging companies and industry-related service providers. These members combine to make the hospitality industry South Carolina’s largest employer and one of the state’s most public service-oriented industries.
“Our partnership with the Restaurant and Lodging Association is an important step toward ensuring the hospitality industry is well trained to identify and safely respond to potential incidents of sex or labor trafficking,” said Attorney General Alan Wilson. “We continue to make progress in combatting human trafficking and partnerships such as this are crucial to coordinating efforts across South Carolina.”
