Gov. Henry McMaster Suspends SC Sheriff

Following the indictment of Colleton County Sheriff Robert Anderson Strickland, Jr., Governor Henry McMaster issued Executive Order 2019-37, suspending Strickland from office and appointing SLED Lieutenant Charles Lytle Ghent to serve as sheriff until Strickland is acquitted, convicted, the indictment is otherwise disposed of, or until a sheriff is elected and qualifies in the next general election.
Ghent, 42, is a resident of Edisto Beach, S.C.
