Women in Philanthropy (WIP), an affinity group of United Way of the Midlands, kicks off a new year at its annual Fall for WIP event on Thursday, September 19 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the South Carolina State Museum.

“Women in Philanthropy continues to make great strides to improve our community. From creating, implementing and teaching the Willing, Able and Learning curriculum at local agencies as a for single parents to learn how to become financially stable to winning United Way’s most prestigious volunteer awards, this group of over 1,200 women and men embody what it means to Live United,” said Sara Fawcett, United Way of the Midlands President and CEO. “Fall for WIP is a perfect event to learn more about WIP’s mission, meet the faces of WIP and most importantly, create positive change for those currently struggling in our community.”

Attendees will hear about the positive impact Women in Philanthropy is making for women and children of the Midlands, meet the executive committee members and learn how to get involved with the community through WIP membership. Additionally, WIP’s 2018-2019 grantee Homeless No More will share how WIP’s $50,000 investment and membership has continued to make significant change for women and children in the Midlands.

"Fall for WIP is a great opportunity to learn what Women in Philanthropy is all about. It was the first event I attended before investing in a WIP membership, and it was because of meeting the women who make incredible change for women and children in crisis throughout our community,” said Kristin Scott, WIP Executive Committee, Events Chair. “Now, as a very involved and invested member of WIP, I am humbled to be part of finding solutions to critical issues through leadership, community investment, fundraising and mentoring. We hope the community will join us and bring a friend!”

WIP offers investors a variety of ways to stay involved throughout the year including numerous networking and personal development opportunities, social gatherings and fundraising events.
