Dominion Energy Restores Power after 24 Hours to Nearly 80% of Customers Impacted by Hurricane Dorian
Staff Report From South Carolina CEO
Monday, September 9th, 2019
Approximately 24 hours after Dominion Energy South Carolina crews began work to restore power to nearly 263,000 customers impacted by Hurricane Dorian, about 80% of those customers have seen their power restored. About 53,000 customers remain without power, particularly in the most highly impacted coastal areas.
Dominion Energy crews continue to work around the clock to restore remaining customers. Counties most heavily impacted by Hurricane Dorian can continue to view estimated times of restoration on the outage table at DominionEnergySC.com/ETOR. In less impacted areas, crews are currently working to wrap up any remaining weather-related outages and will address any new outages as crews are available.
“We’re making a lot of progress getting our customers restored, but we still have some without power, particularly in coastal areas where Dorian did the most damage,” said Keller Kissam, president of Electric Operations for Dominion Energy South Carolina. “County-by-county estimates of restoration time are available to our customers. As always, we appreciate the patience and support our customers extend to our crews while they continue to work as quickly and safely as they can to get everyone’s lights back on. We won’t stop until every single customer has their power restored.”
With safety remaining as the highest priority, Dominion Energy urges customers to stay away from downed power lines. Always assume any downed power line is live and stay away. To report a downed line, call 1-888-333-4465.
