Yani Mouratev Joins Callison Tighe as an Associate

Yani G. Mouratev, a long-time Columbia resident and graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, has joined Callison Tighe as an associate. His practice will focus on litigation.
 
Before coming to Callison Tighe, Mouratev was an assistant solicitor in the First Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Representing the state in criminal trials and hearings, he coordinated with law enforcement and drafted motions in preparing the cases. He also negotiated plea agreements.
 
He interned with the Hon. Robert E. Hood of the 5th Judicial Circuit, sitting in on criminal and civil proceedings and conducting researched. During the summers while in law school, he clerked at two Columbia firms, including Callison Tighe.
 
Yani earned his bachelor’s in English at the University of South Carolina. After graduating, he worked in the insurance industry, serving as an assistant underwriter and program manager for a coastal homeowner’s problem. He also was a researcher for a company specializing in medical tourism – patients seeking care outside of the country.
 
Additionally, he worked for the South Carolina 5th Circuit Public Defender’s Office, coordinating with attorneys and shadowing them during trials, hearings and other court appearances.
