Employees of Lexington Medical Center completed its annual United Way campaign with an 11 percent increase over the prior year, raising more than $142,000.

“Lexington Medical Center is a tremendous community partner for us and for the Midlands in many ways,” said United Way President & CEO Sara Fawcett. “In addition to running an outstanding campaign, they support many of our programs, including WellPartners, our clinics that provide dental and eye care to those in need.”

Justin Harrington, director of Nutrition Services at Lexington Medical Center, led this year’s employee campaign at the hospital, which focused on United Way’s efforts to increase children’s literacy and access to volunteer reading tutors through the Midlands Reading Consortium.

“Lexington Medical Center is pleased to support the United Way each year,” said Barbara Willm, vice president of Community Relations and Development at Lexington Medical Center. “Our employees enjoy giving to organizations that enhance the health and well-being of people throughout our community.”
In addition to raising funds, employees collected hundreds of books for MRC through the book drive during their campaign.
