Monday, September 10th, 2018
MedTrust Medical Transport, a premier provider of ambulance services in the Lowcountry and Pee Dee regions, has begun its preparations for a possible response to Hurricane Florence.
MedTrust has opened its Emergency Operations Center, from which it will coordinate evacuations and medical transports. Staff has initiated communication with its local facility partners, to determine how many patients will need assistance, in what fashion, and how best to transport them, if needed.
In addition to the vehicles and staff usually deployed in the state, MedTrust has resources poised to assist from other states, including New Jersey, Indiana, Georgia and Texas. Along with ground vehicles, MedTrust is ready to bring in 10 aircraft to support its efforts.
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster declared a state of emergency on Saturday, although official evacuation notices have not yet been issued.
