Shutt Earns Lawyer of the Year honors in New Edition of Best Lawyers in America

Nekki Shutt, a founding partner of Burnett Shutt & McDaniel, has earned Lawyer of the Year honors in the practice area of Employee Benefits Law in the 2019 edition of “Best Lawyers in America.”
 
It’s the third consecutive year Shutt has been honored as a Lawyer of the Year. In the 2018 edition, she received the award in Employment Law – Individuals, while in 2017 she achieved the distinction in Litigation – ERISA.
 
A South Carolina Certified Specialist in Employment and Labor Law, Shutt’s wide-ranging legal practice includes extensive work with ERISA benefits. This can include anything from vacation time to pensions to disability cases.
 
Selection to Best Lawyers is based on more than 5.5 million confidential evaluations by the country's top attorneys. The guide, first published in 1983, describes itself as one of the top peer-reviewed guides to the legal profession.

Lawyers of the Year are bestowed in each practice area to the attorney with the highest overall peer feedback in the geographic area.

In addition to Shutt, M. Malissa Burnette and Janet Rhodes also are recognized in Best Lawyers. All told, Burnette Shutt and McDaniel received 11 awards across eight practice area.

The Best Law Firms in America, a companion publication co-produced with US News, will be released in November. Burnette Shutt & McDaniel earned top-tier honors in the 2018 edition of Best Law Firms.
