Panera Bread to Present Check for $1,000 to Pawmetto Lifeline
Staff Report From Columbia CEO
Wednesday, August 1st, 2018
Covelli Enterprises, the largest franchisee of Panera Bread, will present a check for $1,000 to Pawmetto Lifeline on Tuesday, August 7 as a result of two months of fundraising within the company’s 6 Columbia/Lexington area Panera Bread cafes. The formal check presentation will occur at 11am at the Harbison Panera Bread at 1007 Bower Parkway, Columbia, SC 29212. Pastries and beverages for attendees will be provided.
This was the first year Panera Bread partnered with Pawmetto Lifeline. The not-for-profit animal rescue organization appeared on the Covelli Cares Community Breadbox collection canisters during the months of May and June within the Panera locations at Garners Ferry, Harbison, Sandhills, Lexington, Vista and Forest Acres. The resulting $1,000 donation will be used to support Pawmetto Lifeline’s many life-saving programs for the Midlands’ companion pets.
“Saving companion pets is a community effort and the cumulative support shown by the simple act of dropping change into Panera’s donation boxes shows that the community understands this,” says Denise Wilkinson, Pawmetto Lifeline’s Chief Executive Officer. “The donations we receive are put right back into the community through our many live-saving programs.”
Covelli Enterprises, known for its philanthropy, has a long history of supporting animal-related causes in the markets where it operates restaurants, supporting organizations like the Animal Protective League, Animal Welfare League, Humane Society, and Paws for a Cure.
Representatives from Panera Bread and Pawmetto Lifeline will be in attendance at the check presentation Tuesday.
