United Way of the Midlands Announces 2018-2019 Board of Directors

As United Way of the Midlands’ new campaign season commences, the organization welcomes its new contributing members of the 2018-2019 Board of Directors.
“Our board members are sincerely dedicated to making long-term change in the Midlands,” said Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way. “We are excited to welcome our new members as we continue to focus on increasing childhood literacy, promoting economic mobility and providing dental and eye care for those without resources.”
Andy Folsom, President of Companion Capital Management, Inc., a subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina’s Columbia office, will serve as this year’s Board Chair. Currently, Folsom serves as the Board of Directors president for Salute from the Shore and is an active board member of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina, the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and Riverbanks Zoo Society.
“The board is eager to begin working with United Way for the 2018-2019 campaign season,” said Folsom. “As volunteers, we will continue to speak up for those who may not have a voice and to shape the Midlands into a better place for everyone.”
Co-chairing the Campaign Committee are Joan T.A. Gabel, Executive VP for Academic Affairs and Provost at the University of South Carolina, and John Singerling, President, Palmetto Health.
United Way also welcomes newly-elected Board Members, Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis, President of Benedict College; Scott Graves, Private Business Division President at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina; Dr. J.R. Green, Superintendent of Fairfield County School District and; David E. Solano, Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Holdings.
The newly-elected Board Members are joined by designated Board Members Trevor Knox, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Terminix and Education Council Chair; Nancy Stoudenmire, Financial Stability Council Chair; Katherine Watts, Director of Social Work at Lexington Medical Center and Health Council Chair; Peyton Bryant, Broker at NAI Avant and Young Leaders Society Representative and; Freddie Strange, Executive Director of the Free Medical Clinic and United Way CEO Association President.
