Staff Report From South Carolina CEO

Wednesday, September 14th, 2016

The undergraduate international business program at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business has been named No. 1 in the nation for the 18th year in a row by U.S. News and World Report. The university as a whole is now ranked No. 49 among all universities, moving up three spots from the previous year and achieving its highest ranking yet.

“I am delighted that the Moore School has retained its ranking as the nation’s top undergraduate international business program,” Dean Peter Brews said. “Holding the No. 1 ranking as recognized by peer institutions not only validates our program, but also speaks to the quality of our students and faculty members.”

The Moore School’s expertise in international business extends to the other disciplines in the business school as well. Students in all eight majors offered by the Moore School are required to take nine credit hours of courses with international content. These courses include two language courses at or above the 200-level, unless students demonstrate a high level of proficiency in a second language. Students are also required to take a course in international business or international economics. In addition to the globalized curriculum at the Moore School, students have numerous international opportunities in the form of study abroad and exchange options.

“The Moore School partners with more than 60 leading international universities to give our students intensive international learning opportunities,” Brews said. This preparation equips students with international perspectives and cross-cultural learning, which can then be applied in their careers after college.”

The latest U.S. News and World Report, released Sept. 13, also highlights several student support programs at USC, including its exemplary first-year experience for freshman and optional learning communities.
